It didn’t take a wielder of the Byakugan to see how her smile did not quite reach her eyes as it had just moments earlier and Hinata again silently reprimanded herself. Dwelling on the moment would have been foolish though, this was a reunion to celebrate! So she eagerly nodded her head and clasped her fingers together behind her back.

“I’m sure there are a few clubs you would enjoy as well, Sakura-chan. This place is so different from Konoha, there is so much to do and see; it’s almost like being on a permanent vacation! Aside from the homework and all”

She could only be grateful that Hinata was trying so hard to lift up her spirits. It was difficult not to smile now, a flush of happiness upon her cheeks. She let out a friendly laugh. “You’re right! I still haven’t had the chance to take a look at the clubs, yet.” She taps her chin thoughtfully, taking in the usually timid girl’s words.

“That’s true.”

Homework would be a breeze for her. Getting work done would be nothing — still, she found herself wondering whether or not she’d prefer this life over her previous one. She liked the excitement of a mission, the adrenaline of danger. And yet, she hated making sacrifices — especially when it came to lives. The idea of killing someone still hit her hard.

Perhaps this was a good way to relax, after all.

“What clubs are you in, Hinata-chan? Maybe I’ll go join with you.”

Maybe saying that Iwakiri wasn’t dangerous was an incorrect statement on her behalf; there were after all many former criminals running about…along with the likes of the mischievous magical anons. But Sakura would have probably thought she was weird<er> if she chose to go on and proceed to warn her about such things.

It took her a moment to think about all of the ones she was in, and she held a distant look on her face as she counted them out on her fingers.

“Let’s see…I’m in the Cosplay/Costume club, Iwakiri’s Womens Assosiation, Origami and Flower Pressing, Archery, Track and Field and I just recently joined the Cat lovers and Pet club.”

And in a hushed tone, she blurted out swiftly “AndImalsobackupvocalsfortheband”

The radiance that surrounded Kushina was almost intoxicating; and yet..it was so very familiar. Hinata could not help but to observe her with secret admiration, finding herself smiling along with the cheerful woman. And they way she spoke, it was also wonted. Why couldn’t she place her finger on it? Chalk it up to nerves, she supposed.

Mirroring her movements, Hinata lathered her hands with soap and scrubbed at her fingers before rinsing them out under the cool water; using a towel to dry them and nodding to her words. Cookies, that was simple enough! Relief washed over her, Hinata could handle cookies; the more complex recipes were what had her breaking a sweat.

“Oh!”

Where in Kami’s name were her manners?! How could she have been so rude as to not properly introduce herself, what would her father think. “M-my name is Hinata…Hinata Hyuga…” Berating herself for a moment, Hinata watched Kushina <the name also rang a bell> fluster and could not help but smile as well.

“He is very lucky, to have such a devoted loving wife…”

“Hyuga?” Kushina said in a soft tone voice— her blue eyes then turned to see Hinata’s eyes and knew that it was a familiar sight. “—! I should have known—ttebane. I knew that I’ve seen those eyes somewhere.” Those eyes that Hinata inherited always seem beautiful to Kushina. Ever since she had arrived at Konoha, she slightly envied in a good way. She grinned and was happy that the kunoichi at Konoha were blossoming each and every day to beautiful women.

“Ah! I…guess so.” Kushina smiled as she struggled with words, she had been getting a lot of compliments in this academy that she had never gotten before. Many students and even teachers thought that her hair was beautiful and a unique color that not a lot of people saw. “Though I wasn’t always the type of girl like that when I was back in the academy. A lot of boys use to tease me about my hair— they called me tomato and then the boys use to run in fear and gave me a new nickname. Which was “Red Hot-Blooded Habanero”,they all feared the girl with long, flowing red hair.”

“….Boys can be rather cruel at times…..”

For a moment, she fell silent as she relived a particular moment where she had been at the mercy of a small band of bullies. They were all only still very young, and yet even at such a tender age, they had been horrible. It was only because of Naruto that they had left her alone…unfortunately only turning to pick on him instead.

“B-but sometimes….fortune shines her light on you..a-and…there is one that you know in your heart will find a way to protect you….”

Hinata smiled warmly down at the batter in the bowl as she mixed it. Naruto had been brave enough to stand up for her when he didn’t even know her name, and she had adored him ever since.
